Our dear friend, who painted our welcome sign, came with another beautiful gift…..oh we love you….
She brought on her last visit two Lilies and a Lotus plant.
We learned that Lotuses and Lilies cannot be in the same pond, so we had to build a new pond.
What better to do together in 34 degrees heat, tha
n building a pond….?
Lillies can even stay in their potts in a pretty shallow pond and lotuses want to be 1/2 m deep with their roots. Also we learned that their flowers can be 1 ½ m above the water level, so they really stick out of the water. We are so looking forward to see the flower.
Meanwhile in just 3 weeks it has grown already 5 new leaves. We used 2 bags of cow manure, right into the deep part of the pond, few wheel barrows of soil over it, water it into a nice mud and the lovely plant gets put into all of this, just hold down with a few rocks for a few days so that she cant float, being very careful not to bust her new growing tips!!.
Dragonflies hover around the pond now and one frog was sighted one early morning hopping into the water, also water beatles appeared…..where does all this come from?
NATURE awesome!
Another benefit is that the rhizomes and seed of Lotus plants are edible.
Now our pond system, that exists in Rumi’s and my vision around our shed since many years, is initiated.
And what a beautiful view when you come out, or go into Meditation in the Yurt?! Thank you dear friend, Thank You Ma Laxmi.
Around that time we also “stumbled” again onto the documentary “Water” Amazing Discoveries on the Miracle of Water (see links). This film brought home intensely how our everyday intention and the projection of that creates our life, our beauty and misery, our nobility and sickness.
Under this aspect the way we water our plants and we hold the place in Love and wisdom in everything we are doing, running water around the shed will be very magnificent. We are mostly chanting the Gyatri Mantra, Medicine Buddha Mantra or the Lakota Thank You song when we plant and water our trees and the veggie garden. This is a calling from the heart and seeing the Water docu is a confirmation for how much we can influence, transform our environment in very simple ways.
